Henry Hann was born on 17 January 1788 at Bethnal Green, Greater London. He was the son of Henry Hann and Mary Wood. Henry Hann was christened on 3 February 1788 at St Matthew's Church, Bethnal Green, Greater London. He was possibly the Henry Hann who had two jackets, two pairs of trousers and other items valued 10s stolen by Francis Peacock who was committed to prison on 6 January 1813. He was possibly the Henry Hann, butcher, of Stepney who with his wife Elizabeth was indicted that on 31 May they had attacked the Leet Jury of the manor of Stepney. Apparently the jury said that their scales were not correct and that they could either fine them 40 shilling and confiscate the scales of on payment of 5s and a promise of repair would 'let him off'. Henry and Elizabeth did not agree as the scales had been tested three days before and resisted the removal of the scales and were cahred with assult. However nobody couldswear that Henry had actually assaulted them and Henry's counter-claim was that there was no evidence that the scales were wrong and as such the Jury were trespassing in their attempt to remove them and he and Elizabeth were protecting their property. In evidence from several witnesses it became clear that both Henry and Elizabeth had been assulted by the Jury in their attempt to remove the scales which the scalemaker confirmed had been balanced three days earlier. The Hanns were found not guilty and the court found the Jury guilty in September 1825. He may have been the Henry Hann, cabinet maker, who qualified to vote in London and its vicinity in 1830.
