George Frederick Miles Hann was christened on 3 September 1845. As of 30 March 1851, George Frederick Miles Hann lived at Hendford 3, Yeovil, Somerset. As of 7 April 1861, George Frederick Miles Hann lived at Hendford - Chough's Hotel, Yeovil, Somerset. He known at his marriage by the surname of Hanne, a surname that he, his brother (Thomas Herbert) and sister (Henrietta Bernice) appear to have 'adopted' and used from then on. It is not known why it was adopted but may have either been a Victorian affectation - George called his house in Sanderstead 'Yeoville' - an interest in genealogy that showed the Hanne spelling in past generations, or to try and claim relationship to the (Arundell) Hanne family of Benville Manor, Corscombe who were of higher social standing in December 1864. He married Elizabeth Sarah Harriett Eley in December 1864 at Wandsworth R D, Greater London. Having moved back to Yeovil George appears to have initially taken on before taking over his aunt's fishmonger's business in Middle Street from advertisements that were placed in the Western Gazette announcing the involvement of Mrs Curtis. On 14 April 1865 the Western Gazette made reference to Mr Hann of the Star Coffee House in Middle Street whose 'improper conduct' according to a rumour going around the town was responsible for accelerating the death of Mary Hill who, poor and ill, had been lodging with him and whom he allegedly persuaded to leave and go elsewhere where she died a couple of days later. Further lurid details were published the following week as was a letter from George giving details of events from his side. George Frederick Miles Hann was one of the businesses from which tickets could be purchased (family and double for lady and gentleman 9d per person, single 1s) for the Yeovil Reform Association Tea Meeting on 22 April 1867. He was made bankrupt on 14 July 1868 and required to surrender himself to John Batten, Registrar for of the County Court on 31 July at the Registrar's Chambers in Yeovil for the first meeting of creditors. He according to a notice in the London Gazette reported in today's London Standard was due to attend a last examination on 28 October on 9 September 1868. A notice regarding his status was published in the Western Gazette. Following his bankruptcy the Star Temperance Hotel was advertised to be let in the Western Gazette. He put all his household and business effects at the Star Temperance Hotel up for sale by auction. He then placed his Hann's Temperance Coffee House up for sale by auction on 5 March 1869. He placed advertisements for rabbits in the Western Gazette between 5 November 1869 and 8 September 1871. He was a fish salesman on 2 April 1871. As of between 2 April 1871 and 21 November 1874, George Frederick Miles Hann lived at Middle Street (160), Yeovil, Somerset. He was a fish and game dealer on 21 November 1874. As George Frederick Miles Hanne, Gentleman of 12 Bedford Row, Bloomsbury, he was a member of The Worthing Lodge of Friendship, No 851 of Freemasons at Steyne Assembly Rooms, Marine Parade, Worthing.
