Ernest George William Hann was born on 2 April 1894 at Mount Lofty, Adelaide, Adelaide Hills, South Australia. He was the son of William Nicholas Hann and Mary Martha Slape. Ernest George William Hann was a labourer on 23 June 1915. He began military service on 23 June 1915 at Keswick, Adelaide, City of West Torrens, South Australia, as 509 - Private, Australian Imperial Force.
