Ernest George William Hann was born on 2 April 1894 at Mount Lofty, Adelaide, Adelaide Hills, South Australia. He was the son of William Nicholas Hann and Mary Martha Slape. Ernest George William Hann was a labourer on 23 June 1915. He began military service on 23 June 1915 at Keswick, Adelaide, City of West Torrens, South Australia, as 509 - Private, Australian Imperial Force. He was 21 years 2 months, 5' 4" tall, 133lbs, 33"-34.5" chest, fair complexion, blue eyes and brown hair. He is remembered on panel E16 of the Tel-El Kebir War Memorial and on the Magill Soldiers Memorial.
