She married Charles Wakely, son of Joseph Wakely and Johanna Eveleigh, on 10 October 1865 at St Giles's Church, Chideock, Dorset; witnesses were Nathanael Wakely (groom's brother) and Ellen Wakely. As of between 18 June 1866 and 24 October 1866, Mary Ann Wakely lived at North Chideock, Chideock, Dorset. On 29 Sep 1866 with her husband Charles was brought before the magistrates charged with receiving goods stolen by her sister Drusilla Granger Mary Ann and Drusilla were commited for trial, Mary Ann being granted bail, and Charles acquitted. On 16 Oct 1866 she was bought before the First Court charged with receiving lady's and baby's clothing stolen by her sister Drusilla Granger (servant) from the Rev Foster Lewis of Wootton Fitzpaine, which she said she did not know was stolen. In evidence Rosa Shiller the Lewis's nurse said that Drusilla had worked as a parlour maid when the family left on 19 June laving Drusilla and the cook to look after the house. The family returned on 10 July and on 13 September discovered that two night flannels, one morning gown, two robes, two pairs of socks etc belonging to the Lewis baby and two chemises, one petticoat and a night gown belonging to Mrs Lewis were missing. As the result of something that happened Rosa accompanied PC Hazard to Mary Ann's house in North Chdeock. ALthough denying having anything belonging to the Lewis's, several items were found. Mary Ann and Drusilla were found guilty and held at Dorchester Prison pending sentencing. Being been brought before the Dorset Michaelmas Quarter Sessions the day before she and her sister having been found guilty were sentenced to four calendar month's imprisonment with hard labour on 24 Oct 1866 [Mary Ann had given birth to her first child shortly befor the Lewis family went away. It may therefore be that her sister had decided to steal some clothes for herself, and possibly Mary Ann, and stolen some clothes for the baby too]. As of 9 July 1868, Mary Ann Wakely lived at Chideock, Dorset. As of between 2 April 1871 and 3 April 1881, Mary Ann Wakely lived at Morcombelake - Sun Inn, Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorset.
