He was posted to HMS New Zealand the Atlantic Fleet King Edward VII class battleship on 18 June 1907. He was promoted to Leading Seaman on 9 February 1909. He joined HMS Excellent again on 10 August 1909. He was posted to HM Naval Base Portland - HMS St Vincent on 3 May 1910. He returned to HMS Victory I on 3 February 1912. He rejoined HMS St Vincent on 2 March 1912. He went back tio HMS Excellent on 28 May 1912. He signed on to complete his service. He was now 5'9.5" tall with light brown hair, light blue eyes and fresh complexion with a cross tattooed on his left forearm. on 14 August 1912. He was promoted to Petty Officer (Warfare Specialist) on 8 November 1912. He was posted to HMS Prince of Wales a London class battleship of the Home Fleet on 30 May 1913. He returned to HMS Excellent on 8 November 1913. He transferred to HMS Vernon the torpedo training establishment in Portchester Creek on 14 June 1914. He was promoted to Acting Gunner and posted to the Invincib;e class battle cruiser, HMS Invincible on her return to service on 4 August 1914. He married Sarah Ellen F Adamson in June 1919 at Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. Sidney Charles Kennell was posted to the Arethusa class light cruiser, HMS Galatea in August 1920. He transferred to the destroyer repair ship, HMS Greenwich on 11 July 1922. He was promoted to Commissioned Gunner on 1 August 1924. He ended military service on 2 March 1937; as Commisioned Gunner, Gosport shore establishment for submarines (HMS Dolphin.) He was shown in the Navy List as a retired Lieutenant Commander (old ranking Commissioned Gunner) between 1939 and 1949.
