Transcription of the documentation regarding Quaker marriage of Isaac Hann with Hannah Nickleson at Poole
Poole 1776
Whereas Isaac Hann of the Town of Bridport in the County of Dorsett Son of
Isaac Hann and Hannah his Wife late of Stockland in the said County of
Dorsett (deceased) and Hannah Nickleson of the Town and County of the
Town of Poole, Spinster, Daughter of Thomas Nickleson and Elizabeth
his Wife of the said Town and County
having declared their Intentions of taking each other in Marriage before several
Meetings of the People called Quakers in the Towns of Bridport and Poole aforesaid &
the Proceedings of the said Isaac Hann and Hannah Nickleson
after due Enquiry and deliberate Consideration thereof were allowed
by the said Meetings, they appearing clear of all others and having consent of 6
Parents and Relations concerned
Now these are to certify all whom it may concern that for the accomplishing of their
said Marriage this Seventh Day of the Second Month called
February in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Five
they the said Isaac Hann and Hannah Nickleson
appeared at a publick Assembly of the aforesaid People & others in their Meeting
House in Poole aforesaid and he the Isaac Hann
taking the said Hannah Nickleson by the Hand did
openly and solomnly declare as followeth. Friends. In the fear of the Lord
and before this Assembly I take this my Friend Hannah Nickleson to
be my Wife promising through divine assistance to be unto her a Loving
and Faithfull Husband untill it shall please the Lord by Death to
Seperate us or words to that effect
And the said Hannah Nickleson did then and there, in the said
Assembly declare as followeth. Friends, in the fear of the Lord and before this
Assembly, I take this my Friend Isaac Hann to be my Husband,
promissing through divine Assistance to be unto him a Loving and
Faithfull WIfe untill it shall please the Lord to seperate us by Death
And the said Isaac Hann and Hannah Nickleson as a farther
Confirmation thereof and in Testimony thereunto, did then & there to these Presents
set their Hands
