We regret to record the death of Dr.
Henry Fred Hann, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P.,
at his residence, 139, Victoria Road, South-
sea, at the advanced age of 83. Some two
or three years ago he underwent an opera0
tion.
It will be remembered that the doctor
carried on practice in Commercial Road,
near the Guildhall Square, and that his
property and other proerties were pur-
chased to provide a site for the Ports-
mouth Hippodrome. The doctor was
given aseat on the Board of Directors of
this theatre and remained a director until
the Hippodrome changed hands a short
time ago.
Dr. Hann was a native of Yeovil, and
had carried on a practice in Portsmouth
for nearly 40 years. He was a Master of
the Royal College of Surgeons and a
Licentiate of the Royal College of
Physicians. For some years he was the
Vaccination Officer under the Board of
Guardians, and wa at one period on the
City Council.
Dr. Hann married Miss E. Scott-Foster,
a daughter of the late Alderman Sir T.
Scott-Foster, J.P.. a former Mayor of
Portsmouth, who gave so many years of
valuable public service to the town

Funeral at Highland Road Cemetery

Inthe quiet simplicity so characteristic
of him, th ashes of Dr. Henry F. Hann,
were laid to rest in Highland Road
Cemetery on Monday afternoon.
The remains were conveyed to Woking
for cremation in the morning, accompanied
by the deceased doctor's brother-in-law,
Mr. Tom Scott-Foster, and two firends,
Councillor J. Ellis-Jones, B.Sc., and Mr.
Kenneth V. Mead, M.R.C.S. After the
cremation at Woking the party returned to
Highland Road Cemetery, where the inter-
ment of the ashes took place. The com-
mital service was read by the Rev. J.
Watkin Davies, who was accompanied by
the Rev. J. Murphy. There were no
flowers, by request, and the whole pro-
ceedings were carried out with the sim-
plicity desired by the late lamented
doctor.
