Transcription of the will of Kate Hann
THIS IS THE LAST WILL of me KATE HANN of number 7 Hulham Road Exmouth
Devon Spinster
1. I appoint my sister Edith Mary Hann to be the sole Executrix of this
my Will and if she shall predecease me I apppoint Thomas Joyce husband of
my cousin Louisa Joyce formerly of High Street Merstham Surrey but now of
North Hayes Honiton Devon to be the Executor in the place of my said Sister
2. I devise all my real estate and I bequeath all my personal estate and
effects to my said sister Edith Mary Hann absolutely if she shalll survive
me
3. If my sid Sister shall predecease me then I bequeath the following
pecuniary legacies all free of duty namely:-
To my sid cousin Louisa Joyce Five hundred pounds
To the said Thomas Joyce if he shall prove my Will Fifty pounds
To my cousin Phyllis Yelverton wife of Reginald Yelverton Five hundred
pounds and to each of her daughters Phyllis Brooks and Joan Yelverton
Three hundred pounds
To each of them Marjorie Nicoll and Kathleen Howe daughters of my late
cousin Dan Power Three hundred pounds
To Elicia Sarah Hann widow of my late brother Lewis Henry Hann Three
hundered pounds
To the Society for the prevention of Cruelty to Animals Fifty pounds and
subject to the payment of the said legacies and the dury theron I devise
all my real estate including my individual shares therein and in the moneys
to arise from the sale thereof and I bequeath all my person estate and
effects unto the said Thomas Joyce upon trust to sell and convert the same
into money and out of the proceeds of such sale and conversion and my
ready meoneys to pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and to
pay and divide the remainder of such proceeds and moneys unto and equally
between the following Charitable Institutions namely:-
The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital
The Shipwrecked Mariners Society and
Dr. Barnado's Homes
And I Declare that the receipt of the Treasurers or other proper officers
of the said Society and Institutions shall be sufficient discharge to
my Executor for their said respective shares of my real and personal estate
4. I revoke all former Wills
