Letter received by Hetty Catchlove from Albert Hone

15 Belle Vue Rd
Eastleigh

Dear Miss Catchlove

I cannot find words to express our gratitude for the kindness you have shown to us, in our recent trouble.

All I can say that the kindness you have dhown to us may be repaid a Thousandfold when you request it which (God forbid) will not be for many years.

While there are such women in England as you England can never die

Yours very sincerely

A Hone

[It is believed that this letter was written in early April 1918 following the death of Mr Hone's eldest son Albert on 28 Mar 1918. The content of the letter would suggest a tragic event during a 'patriotic' time. Hetty had moved to Eastleigh around 1915 and became Mrs Hann in 1919, the Hones having moved from Lambeth to Eastleigh around 1910]
