Transcription of the will of Mary Ann Hann (nee Frampton) dated 16 January 1873 (Dorset Record Office PPR/CW:1876/1-290)

This is the last will and Testament of me Mary Ann Hann of Beaminster in the County of Dorset Widow.

I give to my Daughter Jane the Wife of Philip Balston All my wearing apparel of every sort and description.

I give devise and nominate unto my Son George Hann and the said Philip Balston my two houses with their appurtenances situate in East Street in Beaminster aforesaid. And all other if any my Real Estate of whatever tenure and wherever situate. And also All the debt residue and remainder of my personal and effects. Upon Trust by such ways and means as to them or the survivor of them in their or his discretion may think best to convert the said Real and personal estate into money and stand possessed of the proceeds to arise from such conversion after payment of my just debts formal and testamentary expenses and the expenses consequent in carrying out the Trusts of my Will in manner following namely to divide the same into five equal shares. And as to one fifth share to pay the same to my Son William Frampton Hann. As to one other fifth share to pay the same to my Son John Hann. As to one other fifth share to pay the same to my said Daughter Jane Hann. As to one other fifth share to pay the same to my Son George Hann. And as to the remaining fifth share to invest the same at Interest in the Name of my said Trustees or in the Name of the survivor of them on such securities or security as to them or him may seem adequate and apply the interest and annual produce thereof for the benefit of Sarah Jane and Isabella the Daughters of my Son Tom Hann until they respectively attain the age of twentyone years. And as each of the said children of my said Son Tom attain that age do and shall pay to her a moiety or equal half part of each Trust fund. I direct my said Trustees or Trustee to postpone the payment of the share I have given to my Son John until he shall have accounted for and paid the sum of Ten pounds he owes me upon loan. And I declare that such loan shall not carry interest.

I appoint my said Son George Hann and the said Philip Balston Executors of this my Will. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my name the sixteenth day of January one thousand eight hundred and seventy three..... Mary Ann Hann.

Signed and declared by the above named Mary Ann Hann as for and to be her last Will in the presence of us together present with her at the same time who at her request in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses the word 'and the expenses' having been first interlined.....
