SORES ON BACK

HEAVY SWANSEA FINES FOR
CRUELTY


Albert Edward Hann, haulier, was fined
£25 or three months at Swansea Police
Court on Tuesday for cruelty to a horse by
working it in an unfit state on October 27th,
and Mrs. Lacey, the employer of Hann, was
fined £5 for causing the horse to be so
worked. Defendamts pleaded not guilty.
P.C. (76) Gregory said defendant Hann
was driving the horse up to the Uplands
with a heavy load of coal. He saw the horse
was in pain and found two sores under the
saddle which were congealed, and matter was
flowing. Defendant said he did not know
they were there. Mrs. Lacey, continued
witness, said she knew the horse had sores
on its back, and only a week ago the horse
was unable to go out owing to the bad back
The magistrates said it was a serious case.
