Thousand Eight hundred and sixty Eight

The Petition of Sarah Hann formerly
of Weymouth in the County of Dorset but
now of No 26 Storey Street, Caledonian Road
in the County of Middlesex

Sheweth
1. That your Petitionerwas on the first dat
of March One Thousand Eight hundred and fifty Eight
lawfully married to Tom Hann Bachelor at
All Saints Church, Caledonian Road aforesaid
2. That after their said Marriage your Petitioner
and the said Toma Hann lived and Cohabited at Weymouth
aforesaid And that there had been iissue if the said Marriage
Four Children Viz One Boy and three Girls but that only two
of such Children both Girls are still living
3. That in the year one thousand Eight hundred and
Sixty Six the said Tom Hanncommitted adultery with
one ________________ and also with one _________________
at the house we then resided as No 2 Middle Bond Street
Weymouth aforesaid bpthe being then Servants in our
employ
4. That in or about the month of May one thousand
Eight hundred and sixty seven the said Tom Hann
committed aduktery with one Elizabeth Beale at No 2
Middle Bond Street aforesaid She being then a Servant in our Employ
8. That since the Month of May aforesaid and after he was
compelled by your Petitioner to discharge herthe said Tom
Hann frequently visited the said Elizabeth Beale at
Weymouth aforesaid and on divers of such occasions
committed adultery with the said Elizabeth Beale
6. That shortly after their said Marriage the said
Tom hann commenced and had until thge time of his
being Compelled to leave him on the fourth day of August
instant continued treating your Petitioner violently
assaulted her and your Petitioner was compelled to seek
the Protection of the Law That accordingly on the sixteenth
day of July One thousand Eight hundred and fifty Eight your
Petitioner's said husband was by warrant brought
before the Magistrates sitting in Petty Session at Weymouth
aforesaid and was by them convicted of violently and
brutally assaulting and beating your Petitioner and
committed to Dorchester Prison for three months with
hard labor(sic)
7. That by reason of the said husband's ill treatment
and threat upon your Petitioner has on divers occasions been
compelled to leave her house and seek the Protection of the her
friends but has been induced to return to Cohabitation
with her said husband by hiis solomn promise that he
would treat her Kindly for the future That in consequence
of her (changed from his) said (unkindness and crulty - cross out) husband violating
his said Promise and continuing to treat our Petitioner
with great unkindness and cruelty and especially in
consequence and cruelty on the said fourth day of August
instant and being in dread of further violence and also
being in dread of her life your Petitioner was Compelled
to leave her said husband on that day and proceeded to
and has ever since resided with her Brother William Mills
first at his then house No 44 Ypper Bemmerton Street,
Caledonian Road aforesadi and now at No 26 Storey Street
aforesaid And that your Petitioner has been too much
alarmed to return and has not returned to Cohabit
with her said husband

Your Petitioner therefore humbly prays
that your Lordship will be pleased to decree
that your Petitioner may be Juduicially
Separated from the said Tom hann
and that her pay the costs of and incident to
this Petition
And that your Petitioner have such other
and further relief in the Premises as to your
Lordship seems fit
And your Petitioner will ever Pray &c
