NARROW ESCAPE FROM POISONING BY MISTAKE. --
Mrs. Hann, fishmonger, of Yeovil, is just recovering from
the effects of a very serious accident. A few days since
she sent to a chemist's in the townfor a pennyworth of
Epsom salts, which she supposed were supplied to her.
She prepared a dose and partook of it, but almost imme-
diately was seized with violent pains, becoming quite
helpless. A medical man was summoned, and, fortu-
nately, arrived quickly. Emetics were used with great
success, and Mrs. Hann's life was saved, though a delay
of a few minutes would have been fatal. It transpired
that the chemist had supplied sulphate of zinc instead of
Epsom salts.
