From the 1843 Tithe Map of Beaminster it can be seen that Samuel was the landlord and occupier of plot 276 (houses and garden) occupying 8 perches and landlord of plot 277 a house and yard occupying 5 perches. These are currently known as 12 and 14 Church Street and 10 Church Street, repectively.

For his cattle he also leased plots 884 and 885 (pasture) called "Johnson's" which occupied 2 acres and 25 perches and was east of Whatley Pond and plot 989 (allotment) occupying 2 acres 2 rods 38 perches which was on the west side of Bowclose Road between the houses and Bowclose Farm. Both of these are to the north of the town.

To what was the west of the town and now stands under Eggardon Close on Broadwindsor Road, he also leased plot 1152 (pasture) called "Paddle" which occupied 2 acres 1 rod and 26 perches
