BEAMINSTER
DEATH OF MR CHARLES HANN. - The death of
Mr. Charles Hann occurred early on Friday morning
at the age of 59. Mr. Hann had been ill for some
while and confined to his house, and his death was
unexpected. Born at Stoke Abbott, Mr. Hann and
his parents came to Beaminster to live around 31 years
ago. Succeeding his father in the business of a builder
and contractor, he was the senior partner in the firm
of Messrs. C/ & A. Hann down to 1906, when the
partnership was dissolved. He was also Sanitary
Inspector for the Beaminster Union for a period of
about 40 years, resigning some few months ago on
account of ill-health, and being succeeded by his son,
Mr. Charles C. Hann. He was also a prominent
Freemason, and a member of the "Beaminster
Manor" Lodge, of which Lodge he was W.M. in 1886
and again in 1900. He was greatly respected in the
parish, and was of a kindly disposition. He eas a
Churchman, and in politics a strong Conservative/ -
The funeral took place in Holy trinity Churchyard
on Monday at half-past twelve. Business establish-
ments were partially closed during the hour of
internment and the blinds of private residences were
drawn all along the route to the churchyard. The
service was conducted by the vicar, the Rev. A. A.
Leonard, assisted by the Rev. R. B. Goodden. At
the church were many sympathising friends, includ-
ing Mr. and Mrs. Leigh, Mr. T. P. Daniel,
Nrs. F. P. Kitson, Miss Meredith, Miss B...
Miss Leonard, and others. Walking at the head of
the cortege were: - Messrs. A. V. Pine, J. L. Kitson,
